Meet the Author

Stephanie Malia Krauss is an educator, social worker, and mom. She is relentlessly focused on what kids need to thrive, now and in the future. 

Stephanie runs First Quarter Strategies, a consulting firm that works with networks, coalitions, philanthropies, nonprofits, government organizations, schools, and community groups. She is also a senior fellow with the CERES Institute for Children & Youth at Boston University, Education Northwest, and the Children's Funding Project.

 

She started her career as a fifth-grade teacher in Phoenix, Arizona. She has a Master's in Education from Arizona State University and a Master of Social Work degree from Washington University in St. Louis. A proud New Jersey native and GED recipient, Stephanie lives in the St. Louis area with her family.

Meet the Illustrator

Manuel S. Herrera is an international speaker, an accomplished illustrator, and a veteran educator. He has illustrated books, publications, and graphics for a variety of organizations, publishers, and schools.

 

Manuel’s workshops and speaking engagements focus on sketchnoting, visual thinking, and design thinking. Over the past nineteen years, Manuel has keynoted and led workshops across the globe at conferences such as SXSWEdu, ISTE, TCEA, MassCUE, FETC, and The International Sketchnote Camp. In 2018, Manuel became a Google Innovator at LAX18, and in 2016, he was named the Midwest Education Technology Conference Spotlight Educator.
